75th Anniversary of the Nuclear Bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima
August 6 – 9, 2020
We join the Hiroshima Nagasaki Commemoration Committee in Minneapolis and St. Paul to remember those who suffered and died 75 years ago when the United States bombed these two Japanese cities.
We commit to strengthening our resolve to ban all nuclear weapons.
We will observe social distancing recommendations at these events. Please wear your mask. For comfort, you might want to bring a lawn chair.
Thursday August 6 at 7:30 a.m.– Ceremony of the Cranes at Lyndale Park Peace Garden, near the Spirit of Peace sculpture.
We will honor and remember Father Jogues Epple, committee member, who passed away of Covid-19 in June.
Saturday August 8 at 7 p.m.– Nagasaki Commemoration at time of ceremonies in Nagasaki at the Global Harmony Labyrinth at Como Park in St. Paul. Learn more at the St. Paul – Nagasaki Sister City Committee website.
